Sounds, letters, and numbers each have a specific color for thirteen year old Mia. Even Mia herself thinks there is something wrong with her until she meets a little boy in the supermarket who says her name is purple with orange stripes. Then she realizes she is not the only one who sees colors and thinks she's sane after all. This book is one of my favorite realistic fiction novels and I recommend it to the 11-16 year girl crowd. It's very unique and everyone can relate to the characters and emotions they have.
