Joseph Delaney does the one thing I absolutely love for an author to do! He took Grimalkin, the witch I sometimes fear in the dead of night, and told an entire story through her perspective. Absolutely brilliant! I know I have said this before but this is one series I will miss when it finally comes to an end.

John Green's latest novel, The Fault in Our Stars, is based on an ill fated love affair that is doomed from the start, not from the traditional reasons why of being too young or parents that disapprove but by something so much bigger - cancer and the ways in which it can take down someone so quickly. I wish I could say this is a feel good book but I can't. It's not. It's deeper than that. It commands it's own presence, much in the way that cancer does to someone you love.
My favorite quote from the book is on the last page, "You don't get to choose if you get hurt in this world, old man, but you do have some say in who hurts you."

Lisa McMann delivers yet another intense novel in her newest work, Dead to You. Ethan is a boy that was stolen nine years before and recently has been found and returned to his family. Naturally, it is an adjustment for everyone in the house, most especially Ethan. With most of his memories erased, he struggles with trying to remember his past, and his family. Therapy doesn't help much nor his transitioning back into a school system after spending time on the streets. Yet, the more he tries, the more difficulty his own brother has with him being back. With an ending that is sure to shock, McMann explores the emotional impact of exactly what means to have a place to call home.

Lauren Oliver delivers yet another sensational story in her second book of the Delirium series, Pandemonium. For those of you that have read the first, Oliver brings us quickly up to speed where she had left Lena in her last novel. Her chapters fluctuate between Now and Then allowing the reader to understand just how far Lena has come in her struggles to flee from a society of rules and into the wilds, where the biggest expectation is learning how to survive. Survival of the fittest. Survival from a broken heart. A world divided by the cured and the invalid and when the two worlds collide it will only be a matter of time before everything explodes. What will Lena's fate be?

Imagine being an orphan. Just close your eyes and imagine being hungry, living in a home where there is never enough food. Imagine now being bought and pushed around only to be told that you may have the opportunity to become the next prince. Of course, if you're not chosen, you will be killed. Treason or death? Not the greatest of choices but one that is facing Sage in The False Prince by Jennifer Nielsen. As the book progresses, you will feel his struggles with fear and uncertainty as he tries to fight against his situation. The novel intensifies with each chapter and ends with a such a surprise that the reader is left anxiously waiting for the next in this Ascendance Trilogy.
